Back to Reality

Sunset on Lake Livingston

While I didn’t take the photograph above, I sure wish I had. This is the sunset over the waters of Lake Livingston, taken just a few miles from the loft. As the sun dips quietly beneath the horizon, I bid farewell to my last day of vacation this year. Tomorrow, it’s back to the reality of life. But, I’m thankful for the three weeks I’ve had off – since the week of Thanksgiving. I’ve gotten alot accomplished, not the least of which is getting my move into the loft completed. This old new house is really feeling like home now, and the quiet of this place has already rendered me addicted. I’m a man truly blessed. And, while there are many things I’d rather do than work, I’m also a man truly grateful that I have a job that allows me such things as three-week vacations! Blessed, indeed.
Here’s hoping that we all have a wonderful week ahead of us. In a strange, and somewhat unfamiliar sort of way, I’m actually looking forward to getting back to reality. You can only live in the fantasy of true independence for so long. After all, as Kevin Spacey so aptly stated in “The Life of David Gale”, one of my favorite movies, “Fantasies have to be unrealistic. Because the minute- the second- that you get what you want, you don’t- you can’t- want it anymore.”
True that.

“Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars.” – Henry Van Dyke

  1. Well this Monday is a made Monday.
I’m loving your pics brother and thank you for posting them, man it’s nice to see the water, and kelly greens. Closest thing to Ireland you’ll get without much travel. Seeing the gorgeous leaves and the neat, well kept area brings back some good memories. Wow man. Just perfect.

just be sure your ‘reality’ still gives you a chance to dream…
doesn’t everyone need an “unrealistic fantasy” or two?
